Chapeau

Inspired by the big hats of a department store, I was looking for a moment to make something that was completely outside of my previous work style. The first lockdown provided the perfect opportunity for this. Kids at home, dog at home, husband at home, me at home. My head was full, the house had to be empty. That is to say, I felt a need for a sleeker design, less details, less colour. A work for my own wall, which did not fill the wall but opened it.

Hats have a beautiful symbolism and statement. They protect you, hide you, or you wear them just to be seen. Who are you in times of isolation, do you feel good about it, or do you prefer to go up the barricade.
